Lately, I've been noticing an encouraging trend for Bluesails Sportfishing Charters of having more families with young kids onboard (even as young as 5yrs); usually Dads introducing Junior to the best hobby in the world: big game sportfishing!

The extensive coverage in the news and social media over the past few weeks involving Cecil the Lion, killed by a recreational hunter in Zimbabwe on the 1st July 2015, really got me thinking about whether sport fishing—with its reputation for being a bit of a trophy hunt itself—can ever be compatible with conservation.

For many years the accepted local lore in Kuala Rompin has been that the fishing is slow during the summer– as if the Sailfish, like everybody else, go on vacation or home leave with the kids from June to August.
